Very intriguing view of the landscape I would not have encountered elsewhere; thank you. I work on a few translated books from French for Schaffner Press a year, and they are especially strong in African Francophone new fiction.

Lauren! Can you email me the details so I can make sure they're listed? Apologies if the Schaffner Press listings aren't fully up to date—although they are on my master list of presses to check in on and update!

Yes! I absolutely will and no need to apologize for your brilliant civic service.

Sooooooo many books to add to my TBR pile. I'm going to have to live to at least 300 now! (Thanks, Chad--this was super interesting!)

It's annoying that publishers keep publishing great books! Give us poor readers a second to catch up! :)

Yeah. Buncha assholes.

This was a fascinating read and an interesting short distraction from the times we are living through. Although I'm no longer translating myself, I was happy to see that Swedish is still punching above its weight. All the crime novels, I assume!

This is actually in my tickler file as the basis for a future post . . .

Huge appreciation for all the work you've done to update the database, Chad! Just added my most recent title. I'm going to read the post now . . .

Thank you for your great work. I started something similar but tiny covering translations of "food books" -food fiction, food memoirs and even cookbooks (very rare). I am interested in all language combinations. This is a daunting task, but I add a few here and there. I see a lot of Japanese books translated into English and other languages. I am also happy to report that a major publisher recently published The Talisman of Happiness, a 100-year-old Italian cookbook. It took them 10 years!

Talismano mentioned!
